Abstract: A precursor of ConBr, a glucose/mannose-binding plant lectin, was expressed in the yeast Pichia pastoris. Western blot analysis of transformed cells detected an intracellularly recombinant protein band with ca. 34.5 kDa. The recombinant protein was apparently active as suggested by its strong interaction with the mannose-rich yeast cell debris.
