Abstract
In this paper, we report a rapid and facile synthesis of a series of some dihydropyrimidinone derivatives 4(a-e) and 5(a-e) under microwave radiation. All the synthesized compounds were characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analyses. The compounds were screened for in vivo anti-inflammatory activity by the carrageenan induced rat paw edema method and in vitro anti-bacterial activity against gram positive and gram negative strains of bacteria. This pharmacological assessment data revealed that compounds 4c and 5c showed good anti-inflammatory activity. Besides, compounds 4a, 4c, 5b, 5c and 5e gave excellent results for the anti-bacterial activity evaluation against the selected strains of bacteria.
