Professor Qiong Shi has been working as the director of BGI Academy of Marine Sciences, VP & Chief Scientist of BGI Marine Group, and a PhD supervisor at BGI Education Center under University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.Receiving his PhD degree from Sun Yat-Sen University. His research interests focuses on aquatic genomics, marine medicine, and fish molecular endocrinology. By far, he has published over 150 academic papers and 13 monographs, has been awarded with 13 Chinese patents, and acquired 2 certificates of new aquatic breeds from China Ministry of Agriculture.
石琼教授现任深圳市华大海洋研究院院长、华大海洋集团首席科学家、中国科学院大学华大教育中心博士生导师。1997年获中山大学博士学位。研究方向涉及水产基因组学、海洋药物、鱼类分子内分泌学。到目前为止,已在国内外学术刊物发表论文160余篇,出版专注13部,获批25项中美欧专利,获得农业部认定的水产新品种证书2件。兼任老挝华大水产公司法人和深圳大学生命与海洋科学学院访问教授。
Dr. Jose A. Munoz-Cueto has been working in the University of Cádiz (Spain) since 1992, where he is a Full Professor of Zoology, leading the research group on Fish Physiology and Pathology and the Laboratory of Fish Neuroendocrinology and Chronobiology. His research activity has been focused in the fields of Fish Neuroendocrinology, Fish Neuroanatomy, Fish Chronobiology and Environmental Physiology, working with species of interest for aquaculture as seabream, seabass and sole. Dr. Munoz-Cueto has participated in 24 competitive research projects as PI, funded by the EU, National and Regional programs, and produced more than 150 publications (87 JCR papers and 7 edited books) and around 150 congress communications.
Dr. Bin Wang is an Associate Professor of Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, and has one-year academic experience at University of Cadiz, Spain, as a visiting scholar. He obtained his PhD in 2014 from Sun Yat-Sen University, China. His major is fish endocrinology and physiology, and he is focusing on some key factors involved in the regulation of reproduction and growth in fish, such as GnRH, GnIH, kisspeptin, spexin, neurokinin B, among others. To date, he has 80 papers published and also been appointed as a reviewer of several journals.
Dr. Shan He received her B.Sc. (2007) from Jinan University and Ph. D (2014) from Huazhong Agricultural University. Since 2015, she has been working in the school of Fisheries of Huazhong Agricultural University as an associate professor and master supervisor. She is mainly engaged in the research of fish functional genome, nutritional genome, epigenetics, feeding regulation and metabolism. She investigated the molecular mechanism of feeding habits of Chinese perch, and epigenetic regulation by nutrition. She has published 85 academic papers in scientific journals, such as Nature Genetics, Communications Biology, International Journal of Biology Science, and International Journal of Molecular Science.
Qiao Hu received the Ph.D. degree in school of mechanical engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University,Xi'an, China, in 2006. He is currently professor in the school of mechanical engineering, and the director of Underwater Intelligent Perception and Bionic Robot Research Center of Xi'an Jiaotong University. He has focused on the underwater vehicle, bionic robotic fish, underwater intelligent detection and special robotics.
Prof. Zhangli Hu has long been engaged in the research works on the perception and response mechanism of algae and plants to environmental stress (salt stress, heavy metal etc.), the basic theory and technical system for building eukaryotic microalgal cell factories, using microRNA regulatory pathway to solve the bottleneck problem of continuous photosynthetic hydrogen release in green algae, and exploring the mechanism of rapid disappearance of harmful algal blooms caused by algicidal bacteria. Prof. Zhangli Hu is currently focusing on sustainable utilization of marine microalgae biological resources and eukaryotic microalgae synthetic biology.
Dr. Chao Bian received his Bachelor’s degree from China Agricultural University and PhD from University of Macau in 2010 and 2020, respectively. Currently, he is serving as an associate professor at the Beijing Genomics Institute, Shenzhen, China. His research interests include animal and plant denovo genomes, molecular mechanisms underlying biological responses to natural selection or environmental disturbances. He has published around 77 articles in renowned journals.
Dr. Xiaoshan Zhu holds degree in Environmental Science, from the Central South University of Forestry and Technology (2000); Master of Science in Marine Environmental Science, from the Ocean University of China (2003); PhD in Ecotoxicology, from Nankai University, China (2007), and postdoctoral studies at the Arizona State University, USA (2007-2009). Currently is an associate professor at Division of Ocean Science and Technology, Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University, China. Has extensive experiences in the area of Marine Environmental Science and Ecotoxicology, with emphasis on Marine ecotoxicology of emerging chemicals, esp. the fate, transport, transformation, bioaccumulation and toxicity of manufactured nanomaterials, plastic particles, POPs and heavy metals etc. in aquatic environments.
Dr. Jiafei Zhao is a Professor at the School of Energy and Power Engineering at Dalian University of Technology. His research interests are in the areas of natural gas hydrates: (1) Crystal hydrate growth and CO 2 capture; (2) Heat and mass transfer during hydrate formation and dissociation; (3) Marine Natural gas hydrate Mining technology; (4) Flow assurance of gas hydrates.
Dr. Anatolii S. Astakhov (born in Pskov Region, Russia, June 8, 1949). After his education on geological faculty Saint-Petersburg Mining University and post- graduate school (Ph.D. degree), from 1975 to present time he work in V.I. Il’ichev Pacific Oceanological Institute, FEB RAS (Vladivostok, Russia) on different position up to Deputy director. Current position - Head of the Laboratory of marine sedimentary geochemistry. Dr.Sc. degree was received in Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of RAS (Moscow, Russia) in 2001. Professional interests in marine geology, marine chemistry, geochemistry, marine sedimentology, paleoclimatology. Author 4 books and more 80 articles.

Dr. Fernando Gómez has dedicated his research career to unravelling phytoplankton diversity and community structure in several oceans. His favorite research topic is the taxonomy, ecology and biogeography of marine protists such as diatoms and ciliates, with an especial focus on the dinoflagellates; the study of the symbioses and parasitism in plankton organisms, harmful algae blooms and invasive species. He has published more than 100 articles as first author.
Dr. Dayong Shi is a professor of state key laboratory of microbial technology, Shandong University. He is mainly engaged in the research of halogenated marine drugs and medical biological products. He has published more than 50 SCI papers in famous pharmaceutical journals such as Br J Pharmacol, J Med Chem and Eur J Med Chem and authorized 1 international PCT patent and 22 invention patents.
Dr. Xinxin You currently a Vice Dean at Shenzhen BGI Academy of Marine Sciences. His research involves decoding the whole genome and understanding the genetic basis of complex traits in aquaculture animals. He is particularly interested in the application of modern genomic tools (molecular marker-assisted, MAS; genome selection, GS) to understand the genetic basis of growth, stress tolerance, and disease resistance. His research group undertake research projects in a variety of aquaculture animals, including grouper, shrimp and Chinese mitten crab. Results from his research are applied in aquaculture breeding programmes to speed up the cultivation of new aquatic varieties.
Dr Yishan Lu received his PhD in Fish Immunology and Parasitology from the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Currently, he is a Professor at the Guangdong Ocean University, China. His research interests include Fish pathogenic microbiology and Fish Immunology. He has more than 30 articles in well-reputed international journals.
Dr. Yun-Zhang Sun is a Professor and a PhD supervisor in the Fisheries College, Jimei University, China. He has been leading the aquatic animals' intestinal microbes’ research group since 2007 and has been the Head of animal nutrition, feed teaching and research department since 2015. He has led more than ten government-funded projects, all involving aquatic animals’ intestinal microbes and nutritional modulation. His expertise is in intestinal microbes of aquatic animals and published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed international journals. He is the reviewer of more than 20 well-known international journals.
Dr. Lingling Wang is currently a Professor and Director at the Dalian Ocean University. She received her PhD in 2005 in Marine biology from the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research interests are in molecular immunology, neuroendocrine immunology, prevention and control of diseases in mariculture animals, development and utilization of genetic resources. She has published more than 220 papers in SCI-indexed journals, mostly in Frontiers in immunology, Developmental and comparative immunology, Fish and shellfish immunology, Scientific Reports, and Plos One.
Tongren Xu obtained Doctor of Philosophy from Department of Geography, Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China under the supervision of Xiaowen Li & Shaomin Liu in June 2011. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China. Dr Xu’s research interests focus on Data Assimilation, Land Surface Modeling, Remote Sensing and Applications, Big Data and Machine Learning, Hydrometeorology. He has published several articles in well-reputed journals.
My main research interest is the microalgal bioactives production. Although, microalgae compounds are already used as cosmetic additives, anti-obesity compounds, bio-stimulants or aquafeed additives, actual microalgae wealth goes much beyond. Unique bioactive compounds with significant potential for medical and pharmacological application remain undiscovered and, therefore, unexploited. Besides, I have some experience in other biotechnological fields such as bioremediation ornutrient abatement using both microalgae and bacteria.
Pablo Enrique Penchaszadeh is a Full Professor at Carrera del Investigador Científico, CONICET, Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales “B. Rivadavia” Jefe de Área Ecología MACN. He is also a Director at the Laboratorio de Ecosistemas Costeros, Plataforma y Mar Profundo. Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales “B. Rivadavia.” He received PhD from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (1975). His area of knowledge and scope of expertise include Marine Invertebrate reproduction (molluks, echinoderms, celenterates), Deep-Sea biology, and Coastal Ecology. He has published numerous articles and book chapters in distinguished journals.
Akbar Tahir is currently a Professor in Marine Pollution and Ecotoxicology at the Department of Marine Science, Universitas Hasanuddin, Indonesia. He received PhD in Fish Immunotoxicology and Diseases in 1995 from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. His current research interests are marine debris, microplastics and sediment quality and remediation, and risks of emerging chemicals in the marine environment. He is also a member of several scientific associations, such as International Society of Developmental and Comparative Immunology (ISDCI), Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), Asian Fisheries Society (AFS), Indonesian Oceanologist Association (ISOI), Association of Indonesian Fisheries Graduates (Ispikani) and Indonesian Biology Association (PBI).
Dr. Chen obtained his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Sun-Yat Sen University of China in 2001. He is currently a Professor at the Institute of Oceanology, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University. His research focuses on fish immunology and utility of marine microbial resources. Dr Chen has published more than 110 peer-reviewed papers on the international major journals such as PLoS Genetics, Communications Biology, Frontiers in Immunology, Journal of Proteome Research, and Fish & Shellfish Immunology, etc. He has been invited as a member of the editorial board of Fish & Shellfish Immunology and Journal of Applied Oceanography.
Dr. Tao Zhou is an Associate Professor at the College of Ocean and Earth Sciences, Xiamen University. He received his PhD degree and Postdoctoral training on fish genomics and genetics in Auburn University, US, during 2013 and 2019. Then he moved to Xiamen University in 2019. His research focus on fish genetics, genetic breeding and developmental biology. He has published 34 peer-reviewed papers on PNAS, Molecular Genetic and Genomics, etc.
Dr. Yudong Jia has been an associate professor at The Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese academy of Fishery Science since 2015. He received his PhD from Zhejiang University of China in 2011. His research mainly focuses on fish reproductive biology and physiology. While, current research interests include: investigate the roles of brain-pituitary-ovary axis related genes, including gonadotropins, gonadotropin receptors, estrogen receptor and insulin-like growth factors system, in turbot during reproductive cycle; and marine fish rearing and technology, understand the impacts of environmental factors (temperature and oxygen) on fish reproduction and growth performance. He has made various publications in reputed journals and presented research ideas in several international conferences.
Dr. Zheng-Yong Wen is an Assistant Professor in the College of Life Science and the Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province for Fishes Conservation and Utilization in the Upper Reaches of the Yangtze River, Neijiang Normal University. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests are involved in aquaculture nutrition, aquatic genomics, aquatic endocrinology, aquatic physiology, and molecular and evolutionary biology. Thus far, he has published more than 50 academic papers in numerous reputed journals. He is also a regular editor or reviewer of several international journals.
Dr. Hui Wang received his Ph.D. from Xiamen University, China in 2011 and worked as a visiting scholar at the University of Maryland, US from 2009 to 2011. He started his academic career in Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2011 and moved to Shantou University in 2015. He is now an Associate Professor in Biology Department, Science of College. Shantou University. He was awarded as Choices of Introduction Shortage-Talents of Guangdong Province Yangfan Plan and Young Scholars of The Pearl River Delta Scholar. His research areas include interactions between marine planktonic algae and algal microorganisms and bioremediation of typical marine pollutants. He has undertaken 2 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation and more than 4 provincial level research programs and published more than 30 SCI research papers including 26 SCI articles as first or corresponding author.
Dr Lei Yang received a PhD from the School of Energy and Power Engineering, Dalian University of Technology, China in 2017. Currently, he is a Lecturer at the Dalian University of Technology, China. His research interests include Formation of gas hydrates in marine Cold Seeps, Kinetics of gas hydrate formation and dissociation, and Heat and mass transfer in porous media. He has published a few papers in distinguished journals.
Dr. Yu Huang obtained her PhD from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and has one-year academic experience as a visiting scholar in the Department of Biological Sciences, George Washington University. She has been working in the field of marine genomics for 8 years. Her focus of interest is in multi-omics sequencing of aquatic animals and high-throughput prediction of bioactive peptides. She has published over 35 academic papers in peer-reviewed journals including MBE, PNAS, Cell Discovery, GigaScience and Marine Drugs.
Dr. Azman Azid is currently a Senior Lecturer (since 2015 - present), Director of Centralised Laboratory Management Centre and Senate member (since 2019) at the University Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Malaysia. He has a PhD (Environmental Forensics) (2015) from UniSZA and Master of Environment from University Putra Malaysia (2012). He has more than 12 years working experience in the petrochemical industry and university. Currently, his research is more related to indoor and outdoor air quality, water quality, environmental toxicology (marine area) as well as modelling using artificial neural networks and chemometrics. Since 2014, he has already produced more than 100 manuscripts (journal, chapter in book), published in WoS and SCOPUS. In the same time, he also always appointed as a reviewer in a highly reputable journal and publishers. Until now, four PhD and three Master students have graduated under his supervision.
Dr Shani Tiwari is a Senior Researcher working at the Environmental Research Institute, Shandong University, Qingdao, China. He received his doctorate from Banaras Hindu University. He also worked at Physical Research Laboratory Ahmedabad India as Postdoctoral Fellow and at Graduate School of Environmental Studies as Designated Assistant Professor. His research focuses on sedimentary black carbon, marine aerosol, and marine pollution. He has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters in international/national journals.
