Abstract
Nanotechnology is an emerging area of research in health care where
technology and size played a significant role. Nanomaterials are different from bulk
materials in terms of shape, size and properties. The properties of nanomaterials are
shape and size dependent. The silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are one of the
nanoparticles that exhibit excellent antibacterial activity. AgNPs were synthesized
using various plant sources such as root, bark, stem, flower, leaf and microorganisms
like bacteria, fungi employed as an antibacterial agent for burn wound infection.
Infections are the foremost cause for the death of many people who suffered due to
burns and diabetic wounds. AgNPs were used from the olden days to treat
transmissible diseases caused by bacteria and fungus. In this chapter, green synthesis of
AgNPs through various resources, their antibacterial activity for burn wound infection,
and the mechanism of antibacterial activity are discussed.
