Abstract

In recent years, the increased use of antioxidant compounds in food, rubber, plastic, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries has been encouraged the organic chemists to develop new protocols for the synthesis of antioxidant derivatives. In this review, a brief introduction to six families of organic compounds with antioxidant properties including alkylated phenols, bisphenolic compounds, trisphenols, Xanthenes, Flavanones and Chromenes is provided and their applications in miscellaneous fields are highlighted. Then, as the main goal of this review, a comprehensive view about the development of catalytic systems used for the synthesis of these six families, with emphasis on the role of recoverable catalysts and nanocatalysts, is presented.

Keywords: Antioxidant, nanocatalyst, phenolic compounds, xanthenes, flavanones, chromenes.
