Abstract

Medical image processing technology has been one of the most important techniques in treating illnesses and diseases by creating precise images of human bodies. It assists physicians and scientists to reveal and diagnose many types of diseases and illnesses, such as pneumonia and cancer. These medical images are mostly concentrated in the field of radiology, in which X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI are all involved. The image processing tools are used for computer-aided diagnoses in the care to provide accurate results, so patients and physicians can understand and interpret symptoms easier. In this paper, we describe how scientists and physicians use the processes of medical images to treat one of the deadliest diseases - cancer. We review recent tools and patents to create these images in order to determine whether a patient has a cancer.
