复杂的常见病是我们社会的一个重大负担,不仅需要采取预防措施,而且需要更有效、更安全、更负担得起的治疗。当前药物发现和开发模式的整个过程意味着制药行业的高投资,这最终影响到高药品价格。从这个意义上说,药物再利用将有助于满足患者获得有用和新颖治疗的需求。与传统方法不同的是,药物的重新利用可以更快地进入感兴趣的化合物的临床前评估和临床试验,预算研究和开发成本,并限制潜在的生物安全风险。需要政府、社会和私人投资者的参与,以确保实验设计和临床开发的资金,以获得负担得起的、有效的和安全的药物。此外,当有足够的临床证据存在时,在卫生界广泛宣传“重新利用”这一概念可以减少开处方的偏见,这将支持在常见疾病中使用更便宜、更容易获得的重新利用的化合物。
