Abstract
The bioconjugation of AgNPs requires their colloidal stabilization in the
green solvents. Preferably, the aqueous media provides a suitable environment for
studying the biological properties of conjugated AgNPs and their physiological
characteristics. Mainly, the conjugation of AgNPs with suitable moieties occurs via
chemical conjugation such as sulfo-NHS coupling, EDC-coupling and by the
approaches such as ligand addition, ligand exchange, and encapsulation. The
bioconjugated AgNPs offer numerous applications in bioimaging, diagnostics, and
molecular medicine. This chapter presents the bioconjugation strategies for AgNPs and
their significance in the future biological applications.
