Abstract
It is well established that estrogens elicit a variety of rapid effects in many tissues in addition to their actions on gene expression in the cell nucleus after Estrogen Receptors (ERs) dimerization and DNA-binding through their EREs. In this chapter we describe tissue distribution, subcellular localization, targets and roles of classical and non-classical ERs.
Keywords: Estrogen Receptor, ER α and β, Golgi, Mitochondria, Subcellular Localization.
