Abstract
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have emerged as a new option for possible use in methodologies of cancer treatment, bioengineering and gene therapy. In this study, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were functionalized by dapsone in dimethylformamide (DMF) to form MWCNT-Dapsone, then the modification of multi-walled carbon nanotubes was investigated by benzaldehyde, isatin and phenylisocyanate. All products were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy (RS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). We investigated the effect of functionalized MWNTs on toxicity of cancer cells, in addition to developing the amidation of MWNTs with aromatic amines. Biological activity with human gastric cancer cells (MKN-45) and MTT test for measurement of viable cell numbers were performed. The used biological data in this study had anti-cancer activity against MKN-45.
