Abstract
Voluntary organisations, working closely with scientists and doctors in some 15 countries, play a key role in promoting research into Sudden Infant Death, providing support for bereaved families, disseminating infant care messages to help prevent deaths and improving investigations when a baby dies. This paper provides an overview of the role of voluntary organisations including giving examples of innovative projects and programmes to tackle the problems of sudden infant death.
