The section Natural Product of the journal Current Indian Science publishes original research articles, letters, reviews/mini-reviews and guest-edited thematic issues on various topics related to natural products.
This section is not limited to a specific aspect of the field but is instead devoted to a wide range of sub-fields in the area. Articles of multi-disciplinary nature are particularly welcome. Submissions in the following areas are of special interest to the readers of this journal:
· Any relevant study establishing formulation development, characterization and pharmacological evaluation for Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy, Siddha and Naturopathy system of medicine.

Dr. Neeraj Kumar Sethiya had joined the Faculty of Pharmacy, DIT University in 2019 in a capacity of Assistant Professor I. He worked as Head of the Department, Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development. Prior to this, he also worked as Senior Innovation Fellow, at National Innovation Foundation-India (An Autonomous Body of DST- Govt of India), Formulation Scientist, at Regen Biocorps, Vadodara and Teaching Assistant at Pharmacy Department, The MS University of Baroda, Vadodara, Gujarat. He has a total 14 years of mixed experience including teaching, research and innovation. Dr. Sethiya completed his PhD (Pharmacy) in March, 2012 from The MS University of Baroda, Vadodara, Gujarat, M. Pharm from Dr. H. S. Gour Central University Sagar, MP and B. Pharm from RGPV Bhopal. He is a recipient of the SPER Young Scientist Award, Dr. PD Sethi did UGC JRF Research Fellowship for pursuing both Postgraduate and PhD. He is also acting as consultant for an industrial project and principal investigator for a Govt funded project. During his tenure, he achieved ResearchGate score- 43.82, H. index- 20, and total citation of 1722 (Google Scholar Score) with 38 peer reviewed papers, 5 book chapters and 7 books. His major research includes, target oriented and lead based design and development of New Chemical Entities (NCEs) from natural scaffolds against Anti-stress, Anxiolytic, Anti-arthritis, Antidiabetic, Antioxidant, Alzheimer’s, Antimalarial, Hepatoprotective, Antiurolithiatic and Cosmeceuticals. He is an expert speaker for many conferences, workshops and webinars. Additionally, he is a recognized Mentor for IIT Mumbai, IIT Kharagpur, Member Advisory Board Yuva Incubates, Startup India and Startup Uttarakhand and Innovation Ambassador for Innovation Council, Ministry of Education, Govt of India. He duly provided mentorship for more than 50 startups across the nation. Recently, Dr. Sethiya has been enlisted in the world top 2% list by Stanford University in October 2021.
Dr. Vijay Kumar is a government servant and working as Scientist with Government of India. He is an internationally recognized Chemistry Scientist, with more than ten years of groundbreaking research on various multidisciplinary issues described in over 130 publications with an H-Index 33. In his short research period, he has attained a very good reputation. He is editorial member and reviewer of more than 25 reputed journals and he has been recognized many times for his reviewing contributions which highlights his research interest and contributions towards science & technology and society. More significantly, in his early stage of research career, he is a member of various national and international research societies and editorial boards. He has contributed to the Pharma sector, quality control, pesticides studies, environmental, drug standardization, metals, nano-chemistry and natural product chemistry. He has worked on burning issues like "effects of pesticides on food/ crops/ environment/ soils/ metal ions/microorganisms". Presently he is working as departmental head of a well-established and reputed Lab at Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Jhansi where herbal drugs standardization and their quality control is the primary aim.
Prof.(Dr.) G.S. Shekhawat presently works as Professor in the Department of Botany (UGC-CAS), Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur. Dr. Shekhawat completed his M.Sc. and PhD from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur and since then continuously engaged in teaching and research; after completion of PhD; Prof. Shekhawat has received CSIR Post-Doctoral fellowship and successfully completed this project. Dr. Shekhawat has received a prestigious BOYSCAST fellowship and worked in the Department of Interdisciplinary Science, University of South Florida Tampa, USA, on Nano-Biotechnology. Moreover, Dr. Shekhawat has also been awarded the National Fellowship of Slovak Republic, INSA International Exchange Fellowship, and honored by the Young Research Award. Prof. Shekhawat was also awarded the Professor YS Murthy Gold medal by Indian Botanical Society for his significant contribution in plant biotechnology.
Dr. Devesh Tewari is a researcher in the field of Natural product drug discovery, Pharmacognosy, and Ayurvedic pharmacognosy with main focus in exploration of medicinal plants of the Himalayan region through ethnopharmacology and reverse pharmacology approach. Dr. Tewari has significant research achievements in the field of pharmacological validation and phytochemistry of western Himalayan plants. Dr. Tewari served as Visiting Scientist to the Institute of Genetics and Animal Biotechnology of the prestigious Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland, and received important accolades for plant drug research from various government and non-government organizations. Dr. Tewari has an h-index 28 and citations more than 2460. He is among the "World Ranking of Top 2% Scientists" by Stanford University; Elsevier.
Dr. Rajiv Gupta is an alumnus of the prestigious Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Hari Singh Gour Central University (formerly Sagar University), Sagar, (M.P). He has a rich industrial experience of six years and is serving academics for the last nineteen years (total experience of 25 years). He is presently serving as Principal and Dean, School of Pharmacy, BBD University, Lucknow, (Earlier known as Faculty of Pharmacy, Babu Banarasi Das National Institute of Technology & Management) holding additional post of Head, Department of Pharmacognosy. He is member of the Central Administration team of BBD University, Convener of Doctorate Program Admission Test (D.P.A.T.) and Internal Quality Assessment Cell (I.Q.A.C.) of BBDU. His area of Interest is medicinal plants particularly Standardization and H.P.T.L.C. studies along with herbal formulation. At post graduate level i.e. M. Pharm., he has supervised forty Dissertation work, and six as Co-Supervisor, and supervising six Ph.D. (Pharm.Sci.) research scholars. He has co-authored four books. He is a reviewer and editorial board member of several national & international research journals. He has more than 90 National / International Publications/ presentations to his credit and has attended many conferences, seminars & workshops etc. He is a Life member of Pharmaceutical based professional organizations like A.P.T.I., I.S.P. & S.P.E.R. etc.
Dr. Shailendra S Gurav completed Doctorate in Medicine from RTM University Nagpur, India and is currently affiliated as Professor in Goa College of Pharmacy, Goa, India. He is the recipient of the "Senior Research Fellowship" of the Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi, India. He is also awarded the "International Travel Fellowship" by CICS, Phytochemical Society of Europe and Asia. He is honoured as the Best "Professor in Pharmacognosy" by Devang Mehta National Education Foundation, India. His research interests are Ayurveda Biology, Natural Products Research, Computational Biology and Herbal Nanotechnology.
Dr. Salvi is a Plant Molecular Biologist and his research work majorly focused on seed and stress biology. He did his Ph.D. from the National Institute of Plant Genome Research, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Presently, he is working as a DST-INSPIRE-Faculty at National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali, India. At NABI, he is running an independent lab as a Principal Investigator of different research projects. During his research tenure, he has been deeply involved in dissecting the candidate genes that have a concurrent association with abiotic stress and seed longevity, that can be targeted for crop improvement as the studied gene(s) were found to be the key regulators of seed vigor, longevity, and stress signaling trade-offs in plants.
Dr. Aman Upaganlawar is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at SNJBs SSDJ College of Pharmacy, Chandwad, Maharashtra, India. He has 15 years of academic as well as research experience. He has published more than 80 scientific papers and published 21 book chapters with reputed publishers. He has edited two international books and authored three text books in pharmaceutical sciences. His area of interest includes screening of bioactive molecules for various disorders, screening of antioxidants, diabetes and its complications. He is a recipient of various prestigious awards such as N. N. Datta and Dr. Saroj Sharma award for the best published paper, best teacher award, national doctoral fellowship and ICMR travel grant. He is a potential reviewer and brand ambassador of Bentham Science.
