Publishes original research articles, letters, case reports, reviews/mini-reviews and guest edited thematic issues on various topics related to microbiology.
The Microbiology section of the journal Current Chinese Science publishes original research articles, letters, case reports, reviews/mini-reviews and guest edited thematic issues on various topics related to microbiology.
This section is not limited to a specific aspect of the field but is instead devoted to a wide range of sub fields in the area. Articles of a multidisciplinary nature are particularly welcome. Submissions in the following microbiology areas are of special interest to the readers of this journal:

Prof. Zongxin Ling, focused on the research of microbial ecology for nearly 16 years, is the principal investigator of Zhejiang University. He has authored or co-authored over 90 peer reviewed publications with the total IF more than 255 and participated in editing three books. His research work has been published in Hepatology, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, EbioMedicine, Microbial Ecology, BMC Genomics, Frontiers in Immunology, and has been cited for more than 4500. His H-index is 28 excluding the self-citations. He also serves on the Editorial Boards of PLoS One, EC microbiology and Chinese Journal of Microecology, associate editor of Frontiers in Immunology. He is also awarded with “Xinglin Academic Star of Zhejiang University” and “Taishan scholar”.
Dr. Zhang is mainly engaged in Mycobacteria and super drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria. There are five directions of his research fields: 1) Establishment of new drug screening and evaluation model and study on mechanism of action of drugs. 2) Development of rapid clinical diagnosis of live mycobacterial infection technology and drug sensitivity testing technology. 3)Development of new therapeutic vaccines and new therapeutic vaccines/strategies. 4) Synthetic biology related to diagnosis and treatment of pathogenic bacteria. 5) Invention of relevant scientific research instruments and equipment.
Dr Zhen-Ming Chi holds a PhD degree in Microbiology and serves as a PhD guider for several students. Currently, he is working as a Professor of Microbiology at the Ocean University of China. His main interests are Microbiology and Marine yeasts. He has been contributing in the field of science since 2006 and has published more than 50 articles in well-reputed journals.
Nidia León-Sicairos is a Research Professor from School of Medicine and Pediatric Hospital of Sinaloa, Autonomous University of Sinaloa. She received her Ph.D. degree from Cell Biology located at the Center for Research and Advances Studies IPN (México) in 2005. She is placed at level III as per the standard of the National System of Researchers in México. Her research Interests are in infectious diseases, proteins and peptides with anticancer and antimicrobial properties and vaccine development.
Dr. Jesús MUÑOZ-ROJAS has a degree in Chemical Pharmacobiology from the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla. He completed his Ph.D. from the Nitrogen Fixation Research Center of the National Autonomous University of Mexico in the area of Microbial Ecology, specifically working with beneficial bacteria for agriculture during 1998-2003. At the end of his doctoral studies in 2003 he was awarded a scholarship by Banco Santander Central Hispano through the "José Luis Canovas Flying Chairs" program, to carry out postdoctoral studies at the Zaidín Experimental Station, of the Higher Council for Scientific Research, in Granada-Spain. In Spain he studied the Molecular Biology of Bacteria during 2003-2005 and generated recombinant bacteria that help plants tolerate salinity, work that was patented for its impact on current biotechnology. Dr. Jesús Muñoz-Rojas returned to Mexico in January 2006, through a CONACYT repatriation program and the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla was the receiving entity; through the Center for Research in Microbiological Sciences. Since 2007, Dr. Muñoz-Rojas has been re-hired by the BUAP until in August 2013, he obtained the definitive position as Full-Time Professor-Researcher.
Dr. Mao Peng's research mainly focuses on bioinformatics analysis of fungal (post-) genomics data, such as discovering key genes and their regulatory mechanisms associated with fungal plant biomass conversion and fungal industrial applications. Dr. Peng has a wealth of experience in comparative analysis of genomes, transcriptomes and proteomes data. He has an interest in learning and integrating knowledge from computers, statistics and biology.
Prof. Shihua Wang has received his PhD in Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences during the period of 2001-2004. Currently, he is working as a professor in Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University. His research field is microbiology. Based on this research and fellowship training he has received several awards and honors, such as “New Century Excellent Talents in University of China”. He has authored 100 research articles and 2 books. He is a member of the Chinese Society for Microbiology.
Dr. Zhe Chi is an Associate Professor at the College of Marine Life, Ocean University of China. His research interests include Fungal secondary metabolites; Biomacromolecules. He has more than 113 articles published in this field. He has also worked in a project which investigates the abundance of Marine Yeast in mangrove ecosystem and species richness.
Dr. Xiaoke Hu, professor of Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology. She is associate dean of the coastal biology and biological resources conservation laboratory, the member of the institute's academic committee and academic degrees committee. She is also the member of chinese society of microbiology and marine biological resources committee, editors of frontiers in microbiology, scientific reports, etc. She had undertaken more than 20 research projects including NSFC, "973"project and “the foreword key priority research program of Chinese Academy of Sciences” funding. She has published more than 90 research papers, four monographs in important academic journals and 5 patents granted. She received Marine Science and Technology Award, Ocean Engineering Science and Technology Award, Shandong Science and Technology Award, National Ocean Innovation Achievement Award and Yantai Science and Technology Award. etc.
Dr Hailong Wang is a Professor of Microbiology at the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology, Shandong University in China. He received his B.S. degree in Biology in 2006 and his PhD degree in Molecular Microbiology in 2012 from Hunan Normal University. His research interests include developing gene-editing tools to engineer biological systems for chemical production, Synthetic biology of secondary metabolites, Metabolic engineering, Plant growth-promoting bacteria and nitrogen fixation. Dr Wang has published more than 20 articles. He has been awarded The Taishan Scholar Program of Shandong Province in 2019. He is also a holder of two Patents.
Dr. Shujun Wang is currently a Professor, supervisor of Master, director of Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Marine Bioresources and Environment, president of Jiangsu Institute of Marine Resources, and president of School of Marine Resources and Environment at Jiangsu Ocean University. Professor Wang is also as PhD. supervisor of Shanghai Ocean University. She obtained her B.S. from Jiangsu Agricultural College for Hygienic Inspection in 1985 and M.S. from Anhui Agricultural College and Beijing Agricultural College for Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1988. Since 1988, she has been engaged in teaching and scientific research in Huaihai Institute of Technology. She has been a visiting scholar at University of Waterloo from Aug. 2004 to Aug. 2005 and Cape Breton University from Oct. 2015 to Jan. 2016, respectively. Professor Wang completed her PhD from Nanjing Agricultural University for Food Science in 2008.
Dr Xiang Zou received his PhD degree in Biochemical Engineering from East China of Science and Technology (ECUST) in 2009. Currently, he is a Professor at the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Southwest University. His research interests include bioprocess engineering, metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and bio health and biomedical engineering and have more than 40 publications.
Prof. Xu Fang is devoted to the degradation and utilization of lignocellulosic biomass. He obtained a PhD from Kyoto University, Japan in 2006. From 2006 to 2009, he worked as a Research Scientist at Biomass Technology Research Center (BTRC), National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology of Japan (AIST). He joined State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology and National Glycoengineering Research Center at Shandong University in 2009. He focuses on the fields of cellulose synthesis mechanism in filamentous fungi, cellulolytic enzyme system, modification of glycoside hydrolases, and utilization of lignocellulosic biomass. He has published more than 40 SCI papers, five book chapters and a book. He has received “New Century Excellent Talents”, “Shandong's Taishan Scholar”, “National Technology Invention” and “Shandong youth” Awards.
Prof. Shihui Yang is a Professor of Microbiology at Hubei University, Wuhan, China. He received a PhD degree in Microbiology from the University of California at Riverside in 2005. He joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a Research Associate in 2007, and then National Renewable Energy Laboratory as a staff Scientist in 2011. He joined Hubei University as a Chutian Distinguished Professor of Microbiology in 2016. His research interest focuses on metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and renewable bio products. He has published more than 60 papers in prestigious journals including Nature Biotechnology and PNAS. He also serves the scientific community as an editor of international journals such as PLoS ONE, Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, and Frontiers in Energy Research; and a reviewer for journals like Science, PNAS, PLoS Genetics, and Biotechnology for Biofuels.
