Abstract

As a simple physico-chemical system that exhibits droplet motion induced by the pattern formation inside it, we investigate the motion of a droplet of Belousov- Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction medium depending on the size and initial point of the chemical wave. We also observe the profile of Marangoni flow induced in the BZ droplet. In our previous paper, we reported the BZ-droplet motion and proposed a mechanism based on low-Reynolds-number hydrodynamics. Here, we discuss the validity of the suggested mechanism based on experimental results.
