Abstract
In this paper, some of the most significant recent patents on compact microstrip antennas (CMAs) are reviewed. Feeding/modifying techniques for different CMA configurations to improve the performance parameters and to reduce the size of these antennas are presented as well. The recent patents that have focused on capabilities, technologies and architectures of CMAs are addressed. Various technical solutions on CMAs and their respective advantages and limitations are discussed.
