Abstract: Intra-molecular electron transfer is a key process, which is of prime importance, in photosynthesis, mitochondrial electron transfer and the action of many multi-centre enzymes. This mini-review considers the possible mechanisms of intra-molecular electron transfer in proteins and reviews the recent developments relating to possible electron tunnelling and electron hopping processes within di-heme cytochrome c peroxidase.
