Prof. Roberto Fernandez-Lafuente obtained his Ph.D. degree in Sciences from Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain. Prof. Fernandez-Lafuente is presently the lead researcher responsible for the group "Optimization of bioprocesses and biocatalysis" at ICP-CSIC, Madrid, Spain. His expertise mainly lies in the study of the interactions between biomacromolecules and activated solids, either to purify or to immobilize/stabilize these biomacromolecules. Moreover, he has expertise in the chemical and physical modification of these biomacromolecules, either to improve their properties or to improve their immobilization. He has authored/co-authored over 390 papers as well as 20 patents, and he has supervised more than 18 doctoral theses. His current h-index is 68 (Scopus accessed on 11-May-2018).
Youcai Xiong is an agricultural ecologist in Lanzhou University, northwest China. Over the last two decades, he has been engaged in fundamental research and technology innovation in agricultural and food system in semiarid and arid areas. Some of his research work led to new insights and technological innovation in farming system and food security, particularly in plant toxin identification and its physiological influence to human health (grass pea etc.). In recent seven years, he also aimed to enhance the research and extension of dryland water-saving farming system regarding small household farmers in developing countries such as Kenya, Pakistan and Ethiopia.
Dr. Vittorio Capozzi was born in Foggia on March 30th 1979. He obtained his laurea degree in Food Science and Technology on April 28, 2005 from the University of Foggia. He got his Ph.D. in Biotechnology of food products on February 3, 2009. During his Ph.D., he spent 9 months in Dijon (France), the Institute Jules Guyot, Université de Bourgogne and at the National School of Biology Applied to Nutrition and Food. He is a co-author of 11 book chapters and 101 papers published in peer- reviewed international journals.
Dr. El-Tarabily is an associate professor at the Biology Department, College of Science; UAE University. He obtained his PhD from Murdoch University, Australia in 1997. He specializes in Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology. He taught different undergraduate and graduate courses. His research activities have been diversified over a number of topics including the use of beneficial microorganisms as biological fertilizers and as biological control agents to reduce the dependence on agrochemicals in the field of agriculture. He has authored or coauthored over 50 scientific papers. He represented the UAE University in a total of 99 international and local conferences. He has also supervised 20 Master students, and 6 PhD. students. As a result of his research accomplishments he was awarded 15 research grants totaling to AED 4.,700,100. He also obtained 3 international patents from USA, UK and Hong Kong and he is also editor in many international journals and he obtained many awards such as Al Owais Creative Award, Rashid Bin Humaid Award for Culture and Science, and Think Science competition. He is a verified reviewer in a variety of international journals and he also served the UAE community by providing scientific consultancy to many sectors within the UAE.
Dr. Piemontese research focus is mainly concerned towards the synthesis, and the chemical and optical characterization of small molecules in the fields of neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases. He also studies the natural contaminants in food matrices (in particular, secondary metabolites of fungi in cereals, wine and dried fruits). Recently, his activity has been focused towards the use of green solvents (DESs) in the field of synthesis, extraction and purification of bioactive compounds. The results of his research are documented in more than 40 different scientific papers and 50 communications in national and international conferences.
Tomy J. Gutiérrez has a degree in chemistry (Geochemical option) from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) (December, 2007), a degree in education (Chemical mention) from the same university (UCV, July, 2008), has a specialization in International Negotiation of Hydrocarbons from the National Polytechnic Experimental University of the National Armed Force (UNEFA) - Venezuela (July, 2011). He also has a Master's and PhD degree in Food Science and Technology obtained in October, 2013 and April, 2015, respectively, both from the UCV. He has also PhD studies in Metallurgy and Materials Science from the UCV and postdoctoral studies at the Research Institute in Materials Science and Technology (INTEMA). Dr. Gutiérrez has been a professor - researcher at the UCV both at the Institute of Food Science and Technology (ICTA) and the School of Pharmacy at the same university. It is currently an adjunct researcher in the INTEMA - National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), Argentina.

Dr. Farhad Safarpoor Dehkordi (DVM, DVSc, ph.D) is a Food Hygienist in University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran. Over the last decade, he has been engaged in fundamental research and technology innovation in food safety and especially epidemiology of foodborne pathogens. Some of his research work led to new insights and innovation in quality control of foodstuffs and especially foods with animal origin, particularly about presence, molecular characterization and antibiotic resistance properties of some kinds of foodborne pathogens such as Helicobacter pylori, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii and …. He has some experience about the epidemiology of Toxoplasma gondii in foods with animal origins. He also has some experience about the presence of toxic heavy metals in foodstuffs and especially milk.
Dr. Rocco Rossano is an assistant professor at the Department of Sciences-University of Basilicata, Potenza-Italy. He received his degree in Food Technology and his Ph.D. in Food Biotechnology at University of Basilicata. Main areas of research: purification and characterization of proteins, enzymology, proteomics, plant proteases, matrix metalloproteinases, impact of nutrition on human health, nutraceuticals. Supervised over 65 students for their Degree in Food Sciences and in Biotechnology and also 5 PhD students. He is author of 104 papers printed in International and National journals as well as 3 book chapters.
Prof. Lijun Wang obtained his Ph.D. (2002) in Agricultural and Food Engineering from National University of Ireland, Dublin, Ireland. Currently, Prof. Wang is Professor of Biological Engineering, in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design, and in the Department of Chemical, Biological and Bioengineering, at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. His research interests and expertise involve the following: Sustainable biooenergy processing technologies; Computational process engineering and process control; Energy efficiency and management in processing facilities; and, Engineering design, analysis and synthesis of food and biological processes. Prof. Wang, as an author/co-author, has published more than 100 articles in various journals, having over 2,825 total citations.
Domenico Montesano, PhD, assistant professor of Food Chemistry at Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Perugia (Italy), teaches Food Chemistry at Degree Courses in Chemistry and Technology of Drugs and Human Feeding and Nutrition Sciences. He received his PhD from “Federico II” University in Naples, Italy. He supervised several Degree and PhD thesis and conducted various National and International research projects. Prof. Montesano studies natural complex-matrices for human nutrition through chromatographic, spectrometric techniques (HRGC, HPLC, HRGC/MS, HPLC/MS) and the set-up of conventional and non-conventional extraction methods. Today his scientific production includes many articles on indexed journals and proceeding.
Dr. Drouiche Nadjib has obtained Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering. He has been serving as a researcher and Director at the center of Research in Semiconductor Technology for Energetic and at the CRTSE respectively. His research areas are Electro Chemistry, Wastewater treatment, Desalination, Membrane technology (ED, NO, UF, RO, MD, FO), Renewable energy, Awareness in field of water and Advanced Oxidation Processes. He has contributed more than 130 publications having citations around 1954.
Specializing in metabolomics, natural products chemistry, and plant biochemistry, Mohamed A. Farag completed his PhD at Texas Tech University, USA, in 2003. Dr Farag now works as a professor at the American University in Cairo (AUC) where his research work focuses primarily around applying innovative biochemical technologies (metabolomics) to help answer complex biological questions in medicine, herbal drugs analysis and agriculture. For his highly cited publications close to 3500 citations and an H index of 26, Dr. Farag was selected as a top researcher in the field of plant biology in Africa by the American society of plant biology, USA.
Dr. Jian Zhao obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy in 1999 from Chinese Academy of Medical Science, Beijing China. He is presently serving as a professor College of Tea and Food Science & Technology, State Key Lab of Tea Biology and Utilization Anhui Agricultural University. He has contributed more than 134 publications, having citations of around 4,404. His research interest areas are Cell Culture, Gel Electrophoresis, Gene Expression, Western Blot Analysis, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Plant Physiology, Plant Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering.
Dr. Francesco Caracciolo obtained advanced degree (Laurea) in Agricultural Science, University of Naples, Italy in 2004 and M.S. from Center for Advanced Training and Research in Agricultural Economics, Italy in 2005. Later in 2009, he did Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, University of Naples, Italy. In 2018, he was awarded the National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor of Agricultural Economics by the Department of Agricultural Science, University of Naples (IT). Dr. Caracciolo has Extensive knowledge in applied economic modeling and data analysis techniques for agricultural and food economics themes.
Pasquale Russois a postdoctoral research fellow at theDepartment of Science of Agriculture, Food and Environment, at the University of Foggia (Italy).He obtained his PhDin “Management of Innovation in the Agriculture and Food Systems of the Mediterranean Region” at the University of Foggia (Italy).His current research deals with the technological and functional characterization of new microbial food cultures, by using omic approaches, for their innovative application in the food industry.
Mingqian Tan, PhD, Professor of Food Science and Technology at Dalian Polytechnic University (China),works in the area of food analysis with the emphasis on water dynamics of food products during food processing, and the formation and bio-effects of foodborne nanoparticles.To date, he has published 92 peer-reviewed papers, such as J. Arg. Food Chem., Food Function, Food Anal. Method, JACS, Chem. Mater., J. Mater. Chem. B., which have been cited more than 1600 times with an H index of 21. He has participated in 12 competitive projects and edited one book, and four book chapters.
Dr. Ravinder Nagpal, PhD., is Assistant Professor of Microbiology, and teaches microbiology, immunology and food biotechnology. He received his M.Sc. in Microbiology from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, India, in 2004, and was selected for ICAR-fellowship for Ph.D. in Dairy Microbiology from National Dairy Research Institute, India, from 2004 to 2008. He has executed a 4-year postdoctoral training at Probiotics Research Laboratory, Juntendo University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan where he studied the ontogenesis of early-life gut microbiome and factors affecting this pioneering microbiota spectrum. At present, he is employed as research fellow at Wake Forest School of Medicine, NC, USA.
Dr. Federica Pellati graduated in Medicinal Chemistry and Technology on February 2000 at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. She got a PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, by presenting a final thesis entitled “Development and application of chromatographic methods and biological assays for the analysis of bioactive natural compounds”. She is an Assistant Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. She is the Erasmus Coordinator and the Advisor of the 2nd American Chemical Society International Student Chapter at the same Department.
Dr. Parida obtained his Ph. D. Degree from Utkal University, India during 2004. He is currently working as Senior Scientist at CSIR-Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute, India. His research activities focus on physiological, biochemical and molecular aspects of salt adaptation mechanisms of different mangroves and halophytic plants.He has carried out metabolomics, proteomic and ionomicapproaches in halophytic plants to explore their salt tolerance capability and to identify the potential metabolites and biological pathways involved in salt tolerance. His grouphas also carried out metabolomics studies in some edible halophytic plants to explore their antioxidant and nutraceutical potentials.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed F. R. Hassanien is currently working as a Professor of Biochemistry at Zagazig University (Egypt). Prof. Hassanien obtained his Ph.D. in Food Chemistry from Berlin University of Technology. Prof. Hassanien published more than 160 articles in international peer-reviewed journals with high IF as well as several books and book chapters (recent h-index is 28). Prof. Hassanien received Abdul Hamid Shoman Prize for Young Arab Researcher in Agricultural Sciences, Egyptian State Prize for Encouragement in Agricultural Sciences, European Young Lipid Scientist Award, AU-TWAS Young Scientist National Awards in Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation, and Atta-ur-Rahman Prize in Chemistry.
My research interests focus on muscle molecular biology and meat science with a view to understanding the biological processes underpinning meat quality, the identification of novel biological markers of quality and characterisation of the structure/function relationship in meat products as well as development of novel products targeted at specific population cohorts, such as elderly and physically active.
Diego Tresinari dos Santos hold a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from University of São Paulo (USP) (2003-2008), Brazil and a PhD in Food Engineering from University of Campinas (UNICAMP) (2008-2011), Brazil. Currently he is working as a Collaborator Researcher at UNICAMP (2011-actual). He has published more than 80 papers in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters and several works in scientific conferences. He has participated in several research projects with both, public and private funding. His research is related to the production of natural formulations (extracts, encapsulates, emulsions, hydrolysates, etc.) using pressurized fluids (sub/supercritical water, CO2 and ethanol).

From 2009 to 2013 he worked as postdoctoral researcher at the Foundation Edmund Mach, San Michele a/A, Italy and research fellow at the University of Nottingham. As of 2013, he works as researcher at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). His research interests reside in the isolation and valorisation of biopolymers (polysaccharides, prebiotics, proteins etc.) from underutilised food sources aiming to the development of innovative added-value functional food product concepts.
Dr. Mosaad Attia Abdel-Wahhab is a professor of Toxicology and food safety at National Research Center. He received his PhD from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt and Texas A & M University, Texas, USA. He is a visiting Professor at several International Universities He published more than 220 research articles in the areas of disease preventions and nano-drug delivery in the International peer review Journals. He supervised more than 55 MSc and PhD thesis and conducted 18 International research projects. He participated in 58 international conferences as invited or keynote speaker. He is editor for 9 International Journals. More than 5 drugs were developed based on his researches.
Prof. Giuseppe Maurizio Campo was born in Novara di Sicilia, Italy, September the 16th, 1963. He followed doctoral Degree Courses in Biological Sciences at the University' of Messina. In the October 1992 he obtained the Specialization Degree in "Biochemistry and Clinical Chemistry. In the year 1993 he obtained a postdoctoral scholarship of the CNR for a stage at the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences and Technology, at the Karolinska Institute, Huddinge University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden. In 1994 he got the PhD in "Experimental Medicine", at the University' of Messina. From November 2016 he obtained the role of Associate Professor of General Biochemistry.
Dr. Feng is currently an Associate Professor cum Associate Director (education) in School of Chinese Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. Dr. Feng’s research interest is clinical trial and experimental study for hepatic, cancer and diabetic diseases by using advanced techniques. He has published over 300 journal papers, proceedings and books in his fields. He also serves as editor and reviewer for over sixty international journals in category of integrated and complementary medicine, as well as molecular medicine, pharmacology and food science
Adriana S. Franca has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (1988), M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (1991), both from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil. and Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Purdue University, USA (1995). She is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, UFMG and also teaches at the graduate course in Food Sciences. She has published 99 articles in international journals, 21 book chapters and has presented several research papers at various international conferences. Her research areas include food science, sustainable uses of agricultural residues, coffee chemistry, heat transfer, microwaves, spectroscopic methods and others.
Dr Hancock is a senior research scientist and group leader at the James Hutton Institute with 20 years experience. His primary interests are concerned with the biochemical determinants and impact of biotic and abiotic stress on crop and food quality. He works in a range of crop and model species primarily soft fruits, potatoes and cereals. His laboratory uses physiological, biochemical, analytical and molecular techniques as well as transcriptomic and metabolomic approaches to understand the impact of stress on crop and food quality at a systems level. Fundamental work is complemented by applied research facilitated through joint research projects with industrial partners such as PepsiCo and GlaxoSmithKline. Dr Hancock has authored 50 peer reviewed manuscripts, several book chapters and four patents.
George Liu has worked in life science for over 25 years. He is a Research Biologist (Bioinformatics) from Animal Genomics and Improvement Lab at Northeast Area of Agricultural Research Services, USDA. He has authored and co-authored 85 peer-reviewed publications. His general research interest is in comparative and functional genomic research related to animal health and agriculture production using bioinformatics and experimental techniques.
Fidel Toldrá, PhD in Chemistry and Research Professor at the Instituto de Agroquímica y Tecnología de Alimentos (CSIC). He filed 12 patents, authored 2 books, edited/co-edited >40 books and published >290 manuscripts and >125 chapters of books. His h index is 49. He received the 2001 Instituto Danone award, the 2002 International Prize for Meat Science and Technology, the 2010 Distinguished Research Award and 2014 Meat Processing Award both from AMSA, and the 2015 Dupont Science Award. He is Fellow of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology and Fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists.

Prof Fhatuwani Nixwell Mudau completed a B.Sc Agric (Crop Science) at the University of Venda in 1996. He then registered M.Sc. in Horticulture at the University of Stellenbosch where he conducted research on citrus nutrition. He completed a PhD (Horticultural Sciences) at the University of Pretoria and he has done extensive research in herbal medicine. He has completed Masters in Business Leadership (MBL) at UNISA Graduate School of Business Leadership. His previous working experience includes Vista University VUDEC, Campus (Now Incorporated to University of South Africa), University of Venda and University of Limpopo as a Lecturer. In 2006, he was seconded to establish a fully funded Research Centre as an Associate Professor and Centre Manager known as Limpopo Agro Food Technology Station (LATS) by Tshumisano Trust (Now Technology Innovation Agency (TIA). He then joined the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) under Food and Beverages (Now Agro-Industries) Strategic Business Unit (SBU); HealthCare and Education (SBU) as a Specialist.
Dr. Zulqarnain Baloch is a associate professor at College of Veterinary Medicine, South China Agricultural University China. He received his PhD from Kunming University of Science and Technology China. Dr. Zulqarnain Baloch and his group have also conduct research on introducing tree shrews, rats, rabbits and Cynomolgus Monkeys as potential animal model for infectious and non-infectious diseases. His contribution in Molecular Biology especially microbiology, epidemiology and animal model development has been recognized at home and abroad and his research work has been published in more than 36 peer reviewed research papers in International Science certified index based Journals with an overall impact factor of more than 105.2. Dr.Gulzar Ahmad Nayik is currently working as Assistant Professor (cont.), in Department of Food Science & Technology, Govt. Degree College, Shopian, J&K, India. He has published numerous peer-reviewed research papers, review papers, book chapters and delivered a number of presentations at national and international conferences. Dr. Nayik was shortlisted twice for prestigious INSPIRE-Faculty Award in 2017 and in 2018 from Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi. Recently he was nominated for India’s prestigious National Award (INSA Medal for Young Scientists- 2019). He is also working as member of various associations like WASET, AFSTI and Asian Council of Science Editors.
Dr. Rituraj Niranjan is currently working as Scientist-C in the area of immune system associated disorders. He is engaged in the different immune system associated disorders like, allergy, fibrosis, acute kidney failure, neuroinflammation, nanoparticle based drug delivery system. Dr. Rituraj Niranjan work focuses on the role of Interleukin-15 (IL-15) in the gastrointestinal disorders. He has done his Ph.D. degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, in the area of neuropharmacology working at the central drug Research institute (CDRI), Lucknow, India. He completed his first post doc from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, USA and then did his second post doc from Cincinnati Children Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.
Dr. Hafiz Rizwan Sharif, Ph.D., is currently working as assistant professor at University of Lahore-Gujrat campus, Pakistan. He received Ph. D. in Food Science and Technology from the School of Food Science and Technology, Jiangnan University, Wuxi, China. His areas of expertise are encapsulation of functional bio-actives to improve their oxidative stability and digestion. Dr. Sinosh Skariyachan, is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore, Karnataka, India. He has pursued his post graduations in Microbiology (M. Sc) and Bioinformatics (M. Sc) and obtained his Ph. D in Biotechnology. He has fifteen years of experience in teaching and research. His key research domains are Food Microbiology, Medical Microbiology (Antimicrobial resistance), Environmental Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Genomics and Proteomics, Molecular Modeling and Computational Drug Designing. His major research focuses are study of the biopreserbation potential of lactic acid bacteria towards several food items, selection and screening of novel natural therapeutic against probable drug targets of multidrug resistant bacteria isolated from various sources by structure based virtual screening approaches. He has modeled and validated novel drug targets for several pathogenic bacteria and viruses by computational biology approaches. He has screened novel chromophoric and fluorophoric therapeutic metabolites towards drug resistant bacteria from symbiotic bacteria associated with marine sponges. He has identified several novel thermophilic bacterial consortia screened from extreme environments that can degrade low and high density polyethylene and polypropylene. He is the member of 15 National & International scientific and professional societies. He has authored 44 International papers, 65 conferences proceedings, one text book and 6 book chapters. He has received several awards and travel grants for his research. He served as editorial board member of five international journals and reviewer for more than 45 international journals published by Nature groups, Elsevier, Springer, Tailor & Francis, Wiley-Blackwell, Oxford Journals, BMC Journals, Bentham Sciences etc. He has received several grants from various funding agencies and honored as plenary speaker in various National and International conferences and symposiums.
Dr. Gul received her Ph.D. degree in Botany from University of Karachi, Pakistan in 2004. Her areas of research are mainly Botany and several other disciplines (such as Stress Physiology, Biosaline Agriculture, Plant Biochemistry, Environmental and Agricultural Sciences). She has published numerous articles in various peer reviewed journals. She has successfully supervised M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars, who were mainly working under her supervision. She has been a reviewer for different peer reviewed national journals, and has been a member of various professional societies. She actively participated in different international and national conferences, seminars, training and workshops.
Abd El-Latif Hesham, Professor of Microbial Genetics and Environmental Meta-Genome Biotechnology at Genetics department, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, Egypt. He graduated and got his M.Sc. from Genetics department, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, Egypt and his PhD degree from Chinese academy of Sciences in Microbial Genetics and Environmental Meta-Genome Biotechnology. He awarded postdoctoral studies from CAS-TWAS. He expert in "Microbial Genetics", and "Environmental Meta-genome Biotechnology". He has authored more than 70 papers in biotechnology including, "Microbial diversity, Wastewater treatment, Biodegradation, Bioremediation, Antimicrobial activity, Biofuels and Enzyme production. He expert and one of organizing committee for several international conferences in Biotechnology and serving as an Associate editor and Editorial Board member for international reputed journals with high impact factors.
Dr. Nauman Khalid is working as Associate Professor in School of Food and Agricultural Sciences, University of Management and Technology, Lahore. His research focused in the areas of food process engineering with major expertise in nutrient delivery systems. His major contributions are in areas of food emulsification, encapsulation, lab-on-a-chip development and characterization of potential health benefits ingredients from various agro-based products. He authors and co-authors more than 150 articles in highly reputed Journals.
