Abstract
α-Halo ethers used in the protection of alcohols for the years 2012 - 2014 have been reviewed. The conditions for formation and cleavage of protected alcohols are presented in tables. The α-halo ethers that have been reviewed are: benzyloxymethyl chloride (BOMCl), ethoxymethyl chloride (EOMCl), 2-methoxyethoxymethyl chloride (MEMCl), methoxymethyl bromide (MOMBr), methoxymethyl chloride (MOMCl) and 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethoxymethyl chloride (SEMCl).
Keywords: Acetals, protecting reagents, protection of alcohols, α-Halo ethers.
