Abstract
The present account reports on the E-α,β-unsaturated-δ-butoxycarbonyl-δ-hydroxy-aldehyde (3), acetal hydroperoxide (4) and α,β-unsaturated-δ-lactone (5), obtained during Zamojskis total synthesis of carbohydrates. Properties of these and related compounds, and their further applications in organic synthesis are discussed.
